Once they do grow up though, it's special and important for the parent to acknowledge their success at having raised a little human. Of course not all of how someone is is their upbringing, but it sure does play a big part in who we are as people. Being able to see your kid grow into the man or woman you could only dream of, to see their successes, their failures that only make them stronger, seeing them fall in love and start their own life, it's all a special and important feeling only you can resonate with as their parent.
